Meet P. Chidrupi: The Talented Author Behind ‘The Zohra Project’

The Zohra Project: The First Book in the Heartstrings Series by P. Chidrupi

New Delhi (India), June 16: The Zohra Project (TZP), the debut novel in the Heartstrings series, is written by the talented Hyderabadi author P. Chidrupi. Set against the backdrop of the glamorous city of Mumbai, the story follows three young investigative journalists—Naina, Ruhana, and Samrat—working for Nation’s Front News Agency (NF). As they embark on Project Zohra, their lives take unexpected turns, filled with romance, secrets, and intrigue.

Samrat proposes to Naina, but when she declines, he struggles to comprehend love and soon realizes that Ruhana secretly harbors feelings for him. Meanwhile, IT tycoon Asher disrupts their investigation, and though Naina reluctantly follows his lead, she remains defiant. As she uncovers the truth behind the Zohra Project, Naina grows closer to Asher, a teasing yet mysterious figure who has a heart of gold. While she may be a pawn in his games, Asher treats her like royalty, making her question her feelings and their connection. As Naina disappears from their lives, Ruhana and Samrat are assigned a new project in China, causing their bond to shift in unexpected ways.

A breezy read under the romantic comedy, adventure, and contemporary genres, The Zohra Project captures the essence of friendship, love, heartbreak, journalistic spirit, and social issues. The novel portrays the emotional growth of its protagonists as they navigate the complexities of life and love.

The strong, diverse characters with their unique backstories stand out, and Asher’s pet, a pristine white Indian Spitz, along with Naina’s feline friend, also add layers to the story.

An Interview with P. Chidrupi

  1. What inspires you to write? Have you ever written based on personal experiences?

“Some readers assume authors write from experience. However, fiction authors often live in an imaginative world where countless scenarios are created for the story. While some authors may write from personal experience, I do not.”

  2. When did you begin writing? What drives you to write?

“I was an avid reader from the age of nine, and I began creating stories by the age of ten. At eleven, I participated in a school competition, and my English teacher praised me for my knack with words. Writing has continued to be my passion since then, and today I put all my energy into crafting meaningful and entertaining stories.”

  3. What are your favourite themes?

“I enjoy reading Mark Twain’s children’s books, followed by mystery-thrillers. Although I’m not as avid a reader as I used to be, mystery still fascinates me. I also love light-hearted mangas, anime, and futuristic, action-packed sci-fi.”

  4. Tell us about your book.

“The Zohra Project is the first book in the Heartstrings series. Originally written for a web platform, I received wonderful feedback from readers, and it was compared to watching a good movie. I’m happy that I put in the effort to finish and publish it.”

  5. Who is your favourite character?

“I love all the characters. Each one is unique, and their personalities contribute to the story’s depth.”

  6. Tell us more about the Heartstrings series.

“The Zohra Project is the first book in the series. I plan to improve the editing in the second book (laughs). I also have ideas for spin-offs based on intriguing side characters from The Zohra Project. The series will have four books, with two spin-offs, and I’m quite sure I’ll publish at least one.”

  7. Do you have any works in progress? What are your plans?

“I’m currently editing a slice-of-life, army-based novel that took me four years to complete. It’s about four diverse characters and their struggles, love, life, and duty. My friends who read it said it was beautiful, and that’s the best reward for a writer. I also plan to write a children’s book, a dream I’ve had since childhood.”

  8. What do you do when you’re not writing?

“I paint, practice art, and play the guitar and keyboard. I’m also learning the piano. Music is a soul-soother, and I listen to instrumental tracks from various genres. Additionally, I’m working on completing my Karate Black Belt training (laughs).”

We wish P. Chidrupi, the vibrant and passionate author, all the best in her creative journey.
