Delhi Police Enhances Traffic Surveillance with 535 ANPR Software Installations for Improved Law Enforcement
New Delhi (India), June 12 – In a major step towards enhancing law and order, traffic enforcement, and vehicle tracking, Delhi Police has successfully installed 535 Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) software systems at strategic locations across the city. Developed by Vehant Technologies, these advanced systems are deployed based on crime mapping and the analysis of crime hotspots, including areas under police stations such as Patparganj, Kalyanpuri, Dwarka Sector 23, and Sultanpuri.
The integration of the ANPR system with police station control rooms is transforming traffic surveillance. This sophisticated system captures vehicle number plates by analyzing video streams, which are then relayed to the control room server. The data is stored in a central database and verified by security personnel against criteria set by police authorities for law enforcement applications, such as identifying hot-listed, stolen, or suspect vehicles, thus forming a critical part of the city’s overall surveillance solution.
Vehant Technologies, a leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) security solutions, has deployed ANPR software licenses on 535 cameras, with the first batch of 53 licenses already in place across Patparganj, Kalyanpuri, Dwarka Sector 23, and Sultanpuri. The remaining licenses will be deployed shortly.
Total Software Licenses Deployed to Date:
- Kalyanpuri PS: 27 units
- Dwarka Sector 23 PS: 16 units
- Patparganj PS: 6 units
- Sultanpuri PS: 4 units

The system captures vehicle data, encrypts it, and transfers it to the centralized server at the police station’s control room. This enables effective surveillance and data management, allowing law enforcement officers to identify offenders quickly and take appropriate action. Operating 24/7, the system stores number plate information of all captured vehicles, aiding in the rapid identification of violators. Future enhancements may include using the system to detect traffic violations such as wrong-way driving, triple riding, non-compliance with helmet laws, and mobile phone usage while driving.
