Manish Tiwary’s Chidiakhana Set to Release on June 2: A Heartfelt Coming-of-Age Story
New Delhi, India – May 17, 2025 – After his successful films Dil Dosti Etc and Issaq, renowned director Manish Tiwary’s latest offering Chidiakhana is all set for a release on June 2. Produced by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and presented by Bharati Studios, the film will be distributed by Shiladitya Bora’s Platoon One.
A Story of Grit, Team Spirit, and Football
Chidiakhana tells the compelling coming-of-age story of Sooraj (played by Ritwik Sahore), a Bihari boy who, with his passion, grit, and football skills, earns the respect of the residents in a Maharashtrian chawl. The film explores the transformation of an underdog into a hero and highlights the theme that there’s a “tiger” in every underdog.
“The essence of Chidiakhana lies in the journey of an underdog who, with his love for football, not only empowers himself but also inspires his friends, his community, and even turns his enemies into friends,” says Manish Tiwary. “It is a story about team spirit and unity, about how small efforts, when combined, can create something extraordinary,” he adds.
Perfect Casting Choices Bring Characters to Life
Manish Tiwary is deeply proud of the casting for Chidiakhana, which he believes plays a crucial role in bringing the characters to life. “Ritwik Sahore was the perfect choice for Sooraj, as his innocence and sincerity resonate through his performance,” says Tiwary. He further adds, “Avneet Kaur brings a refreshing charm to the role of Sooraj’s crush, while Rajeshwari Sachdev delivers a powerful performance as the mother who sacrifices everything for her child’s well-being. Prashant Narayanan impresses as the ‘Gunda with a golden heart,’ and Ravi Kishan, Govind Namdev, and Aanjjan Srivastava bring immense depth to their roles. The football team is a diverse mix, each with unique traits that give the story a well-rounded and authentic feel.”
The film’s protagonist, Sooraj, comes from Bihar to Mumbai, where he struggles to find his place in the city’s vast landscape, showcasing the quintessential story of overcoming challenges and finding strength in adversity.
Excitement Around the Film’s Distribution
Shiladitya Bora, the distributor for Chidiakhana, expresses his excitement for the project. “Having been an avid fan of Dil Dosti Etc, I am thrilled and proud to be associated with the distribution of this NFDC film,” says Bora. “The film has a fantastic mix of performances from both young talents like Ritwik Sahore and Avneet Kaur, as well as seasoned actors such as Prashant Narayanan, Rajeshwari Sachdev, Govind Namdev, and Ravi Kishan. Chidiakhana is a classic underdog story with a lot of heart, and the passion for football shines through, making it an inspiring and enjoyable watch.”
