As a Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) graduate, Amit completed his post-graduate diploma in screen acting, excelling academically and being honored with the prestigious Kaifi Azmi Award by the Shabana Azmi Foundation. He attributes much of his success to his mentor, Shabana Azmi, who provided him with a scholarship to pursue his education at FTII.
Amit’s journey began in Bhopal, where he developed his passion for theater. Under the guidance of mentors like Alok Chatterjee, Sumit Dwivedi, and Javed Zaidi, he honed his craft and quickly became involved in professional theater. Between 2004 and 2009, Amit worked with renowned theater personalities, including the late Tom Alter, Rakesh Bedi, Harish Chhabra, and Dr. M Sayeed Alam as part of Pierrot’s Troupe in New Delhi, performing in acclaimed shows across the country.
From Theater to Film: Writing and Acting Success
Amit’s transition into film came through his writing, with the critically acclaimed script for “Gilehri” (The Squirrel). The script was selected for the NFDC Writer’s Lab 2017 and received recognition at the prestigious Film Bazaar in Goa. This accomplishment further solidified his place in the industry.
