KPI Green Energy Powers Creation of 7.5-Carat Lab-Grown Diamond Gifted to US First Lady Dr. Jill Biden
Surat (Gujarat) [India], June 28 – KPI Green Energy, a subsidiary of KP Group, a leading player in the renewable energy sector, played a crucial role in the creation of a 7.5-carat lab-grown diamond that Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifted to US First Lady Dr. Jill Biden during his recent state visit to the United States.
The exceptional diamond was produced by Greenlab Diamonds LLP, Surat-based and the world’s largest producer of lab-grown diamonds. Crafted in a Surat factory, the diamond was made using a process that replicates the natural formation of diamonds deep within the Earth’s surface. Notably, the entire production of this lab-grown diamond was powered by environmentally friendly solar and wind energy.
To fulfill the energy needs of Greenlab Diamonds, KPI Green Energy established solar and wind power plants. The company set up a 25 MW solar power plant in Samoj village, Bharuch, and a 9.4 MW hybrid wind power plant in Kora village, Bharuch, providing sustainable electricity to Greenlab Diamonds’ factory.
Dr. Faruk G. Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of KP Group, expressed pride in the company’s involvement, saying, “We are immensely proud to have contributed to the creation of this extraordinary lab-grown diamond by powering the Surat factory with green energy. This project exemplifies the successful integration of sustainable energy and cutting-edge technology, marking a significant step toward a clean energy future.”

Mukesh Patel, Director of Greenlab Diamonds, commented, “The creation of this green diamond symbolizes India’s commitment to transitioning towards renewable and green energy, a goal strongly championed by Prime Minister Modi. It took over 1.5 months to develop this remarkable diamond using Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) technology. We are dedicated to producing diamonds that not only embody sustainable luxury but also nurture both people and the environment.”
Notably, KPI Green Energy’s hybrid wind power plant in Kora village, Bharuch is the first of its kind in South Gujarat. Until recently, areas like Bhavnagar, Porbandar, and Kutch were considered the most feasible locations for wind energy projects in Gujarat. However, KPI Green Energy’s hybrid wind plant has opened up new opportunities for wind energy projects in South Gujarat.
KPI Green Energy’s partnership with Greenlab Diamonds represents a groundbreaking achievement, showcasing the successful synergy between sustainable energy generation and innovative diamond manufacturing techniques. This milestone highlights India’s progress toward a greener, more environmentally conscious future.
