Shubham Thakur: From IIT Bombay to Award-Winning Inventor and Entrepreneur
New Delhi (India), May 12: Shubham Thakur, a dynamic innovator based in Pune, has carved a remarkable journey from being an engineering student at IIT Bombay to becoming a celebrated inventor and entrepreneur. Known for his visionary approach, Shubham has consistently harnessed his creativity to devise solutions to significant societal challenges, with his first invention coming at the age of 18 in 2013.
In the past decade, Shubham has been awarded seven patents for his groundbreaking inventions, with two more expected to be granted by the end of 2023. His innovations span various industries, including health tech, consumer electronics, and automobiles. In addition to his accomplishments as an inventor, Shubham is also a successful entrepreneur. He founded the Pune-based IoT startup TeslaAir, which secured seed funding from both Indian and foreign investors in 2019. The startup also received several government grants for its innovative projects.
Shubham’s entrepreneurial journey continued with his involvement in Preppr, a FoodTech company that merged the business models of BlueApron (USA) and Swiggy/Zomato (India). As part of Preppr’s leadership team, Shubham appeared on Shark Tank India – Season 1 in 2022, showcasing his company’s products to a panel of investors.
Reflecting on his achievements, Shubham shares, “I owe my success to my supportive parents, mentors, trusted friends in the industry, and my partner.”
Shubham is now setting his sights on disrupting the audio tech and consumer electronics sectors, with cutting-edge research backed by some of the country’s top institutions.
In an exclusive interview, Shubham shared his philosophy on innovation: “The thought process has been clear from Day 1; impactful innovation isn’t about hitting goals others can’t reach; it’s about identifying the goals others can’t see. Innovation thrives when you gain deeper insights into the real gaps in the market. In a society that nurtures innovation, we see a new generation of young entrepreneurs, and as India continues to move forward, it’s time we retain those who can solve our problems with their genius.”
For Shubham, his drive to make a positive societal impact is his guiding force. His inventions not only address current problems but also anticipate future challenges, making him a visionary in the tech world.
Shubham Thakur’s story is a testament to the power of creativity, hard work, and determination. From IIT Bombay to a successful inventor with multiple award-winning products, his journey serves as an inspiration for young inventors and entrepreneurs alike.
The key takeaways for today’s aspiring innovators from Shubham’s journey are resilience, passion, and the unwavering determination to make a difference. As Shubham continues his work, his inventions hold the potential to significantly impact people’s lives and transform the world for the better.
