Students of IPS academy Explored Dubai in outreach program – Primex News Network

Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], May 27 – The School of Architecture, IPS Academy Indore, in collaboration with Wheel of Innovation, Pune, successfully concluded its international outreach program in Dubai. The program, envisioned by Dr. (Prof.) Manita Saxena, Principal of the institute, provided students with a unique opportunity to explore architectural marvels and engage in informative workshops. Ar. Neelam Kushwah and Er. Sumit Singh Shekhawat accompanied a group of 27 students and mentored them throughout the tour.

During the tour, Ar. Neelam Kushwah presented her research on “Relevance of Sir Patrick Geddes’ Ideology for Attaining Sustainability of Urban Poor in Indore,” while Er. Sumit Singh Shekhawat shared his research on the “N2 Method for Seismic Analysis in High-Rise Buildings” with students from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Dubai.

The program was highly successful, with students attending workshops on smart cities, digital twins, and sustainability. Notable experts, including Dr. Ghalib Y. Kahwaji, who led a workshop on sustainability, Dr. Sanjay Modak, Head of Graduate Programs and Research, who conducted a session on smart cities, and Dr. John McCarthy, who took a workshop on digital twins, provided students with valuable insights into cutting-edge topics.

The students had the opportunity to visit some of Dubai’s most iconic architectural landmarks, including the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building at 829.8 meters, and the Museum of the Future, which showcases how the world might evolve by 2071. They also explored Dubai Expo City, the venue for the 2020 Dubai Exposition, Burj Al Arab, and the Etihad Museum.

Throughout the tour, students gained practical exposure to architectural design and the structural complexities of skyscraper buildings. They explored advanced features like steel and tensile structures, dynamic facades, pile foundations, reflective curtain glass elevations, and centralized services such as AC cooling plants. The tour also provided a deep dive into local Arabic art and Islamic architecture, enriching students’ understanding of these unique cultural elements. Additionally, students studied factors such as wind load, seismic pressures, and structural grids involved in high-rise construction.

The tour gave students a firsthand experience of buildings designed by renowned architects and deepened their knowledge of modern architectural techniques and sustainability practices.
