Farmkart’s CEO Atul Patidar Honored by Madhya Pradesh Governor for Impactful Contributions to Agriculture
Barwani (Madhya Pradesh), May 12: Atul Patidar, CEO of the agritech startup Farmkart, was recently honored by the Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Mangubhai Patel, at a special event held at Raj Bhawan in Bhopal. The occasion celebrated the broadcast of the 100th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat radio address. Atul Patidar, along with other impactful individuals from the state, was recognized for their significant contributions to society.
The Governor of Madhya Pradesh felicitated individuals who made notable impacts on the lives of others in the state, with Atul Patidar and his team receiving praise from Prime Minister Modi during the 70th edition of Mann Ki Baat in 2020. The Prime Minister had highlighted Farmkart’s innovative technology solutions designed for rural farmers, especially those who are not well-versed in technology, and the startup’s exemplary work during the COVID-19 lockdown.
An exhibition was also organized at Raj Bhawan to showcase the impact of Mann Ki Baat and to highlight the individuals from Madhya Pradesh mentioned in the radio address. Along with Atul Patidar, several Padma awardees from the state, including Vijay Dutt Sridhar, Janak Palta, Shanti Parmar, Ramesh Parmar, Bhuri Bai, and Kailash Madbaiya, were also honored.
Atul Patidar, Founder and CEO of Farmkart, shared his thoughts on the recognition: “It’s an honor to share the stage with such esteemed personalities from Madhya Pradesh and other inspiring individuals. I thank the Governor and the state government for this recognition. It boosts our confidence and encourages us to continue working towards the betterment of agriculture and supporting Indian farmers.”
Farmkart is Central India’s first agritech startup, which designs technology solutions tailored to non-tech-savvy rural farmers. The startup was founded in 2017 by Atul Patidar after completing his post-graduation degrees from renowned institutions such as Cornell University, Queen’s University, and the University of Toronto. Initially conceptualized while working for a Fortune 500 multinational in Canada, Atul returned to his hometown, Barwani (Madhya Pradesh), to start Farmkart.
In the five years since its inception, Farmkart has made a significant impact, positively affecting the lives of lakhs of farmers across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and parts of South India. The company is now expanding its presence across India and is preparing for Series A funding.
In 2018, Farmkart was selected by Startup Grind, powered by Google for Entrepreneurs, as one of the Top 50 Global Innovative Startups.
The company has also gained recognition for creating world-class workspaces and job opportunities in rural areas, attracting global professionals to contribute to the Indian agritech space.
Recently, Farmkart appointed Stephane Pastor as its new Chief Operating Officer. Stephane, a French citizen, brings a wealth of multicultural experience to the company, having lived in eight countries across four continents.
