Barbie Movie: Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling’s film Barbie released on the screen on July 21, 2023 and is discussed all over the world. The film created a lot of buzz in India as well, with many celebrities taking their kids to see the kids’ favorite Barbie. One of whom was TV actress Juhi Parmar, but she ran away from the theater within 15 minutes. Recently, TV actress Juhi Parmar went on a movie date with her 10-year-old daughter Samaira to watch Barbie. However, Juhi’s reaction to the film was different from others. Juhi Parmar wrote a long note on her social media handle after watching Barbie with her 10-year-old daughter Samaira. In the note, the actress expressed her concern and disappointment about children watching the film and shared her review. In the caption of this note, Juhi wrote, “What I am sharing today will not please many of my own viewers, some of you may be very angry with me but I am sharing this note as a concerned mother for Barbie! And for other parents, don’t make the mistake I made and please check before taking your child for a movie, that choice is yours!” I took my 10 year old daughter Samaira to see your movie without researching the fact that it was a “PG-13” movie. 10 minutes into the movie, I took my baby girl out of the theater immediately after seeing the inappropriate language, sex etc and I was wondering what I showed my baby. She was waiting to see your film and here I was just shocked, disappointed and heartbroken at what I had shown her. Juhi further wrote- “I was the first one to walk out of the movie within 10/15 minutes and when I reached out I saw some parents with their little babies crying while some parents decided to stay back to watch the whole movie. Though I am glad I walked out within 10-15 minutes because I didn’t even want to think how bad it would have been. In fact I would say leave your movie barb PG-13 The language and content of Mr. is not suitable for children under 13 years of age and above.” The actress continues, “I had a Barbie doll as a child and most women will have a Barbie doll as a child. It’s a part of our childhood and today with your film, it’s got a new life as everyone is talking about Barbie, wearing pink, barbie parties and barbie manicures and “I’m a barbie girl” song playing in the background. What great marketing! And so on. I want to ask why make a film that is such an essential part of a child’s life and then have content that is so wrong for them. Also read – Used to work in The Kapil Sharma Show, but today selling these things with an umbrella in the rain, and then I ask what about cross checks? I made a mistake by not doing my research, but why is there no reminder in the movie, why aren’t theaters reminding parents that it’s a PG-13 movie. Or when we’re about to come When booking a movie for a pop-up, why not show that the movie is PG-13. As content creators, we are asked many times on some platforms whether the content we are uploading is for kids?, so why are there no checks and balances here? I’m guessing it’s probably because everyone is enjoying the sales because theaters would be half empty if young girls weren’t pressuring their parents to get them in the movie. I went back and checked the promos and realized that none of them gave a glimpse of the inappropriate language coming in the film. Then why did you mislead? But Barbie, it’s not just about you! Half of our Hindi movies have so much inappropriate content, at least you were labeled PG-13, our Hindi movies don’t have that and then parents knowingly or unknowingly expose their children to rape, suicide, sex and what not. And lastly I just want to say that I want to be a responsible parent and walk out of your movie and choose not to show him many other inappropriate movies but there is a section of parents who will continue to show their kids even after knowing. And those kids will interact with other kids, so escape becomes impossible. Language and information come back to my child, even if I try to keep him away from it. And so I come back to my main question here… Why did you break the complete Barbie illusion? Why was Barbie made an inappropriate and PG-13 film for children, instead it should have been made a film that everyone can enjoy with the family. I wish I could erase the memory of this movie and continue to believe in a perfect Barbie for my child who has you in their collection and loves you so much… I wish so!
